Let there be fireworks!!!

Feels: chipperchipper

I think we're all in agreement that those little ignitable snakes are HORRIBLE disappointments. They never really grow without splintering apart into little charcoal ashes... little tiny grubs at best that just burn against the driveway...

But in all honesty, I loved sparklers when I was a kid!

I had this HUGE backyard, and there was this great view of the local firework display right from my house... and all through the dark, I'd run around, lighting sparkler after sparkler and running around with the little cinder-sparks tingling and dancing off my skin... spinning and waving them madly into the night air like a little firefly who had lost her mind...

... I know the GIANT BOOMS in the sky, and the explosions that light up half the night are a much bigger draw of your attention... and mebbe they are more fun... mebbe not...

There was just something magical about being able to hold this glittering fireball right in my hands when I was little.

Happy 4th from the 'Phooki!

Oh... and yes, comics are coming eventually... we're still working out script details.

I always liked those little ones you set on the ground and light and they spin around real fast shooting sparks and little colored spheres out all around them.

Roman candles are cool too. Just be sure not to wave them at anyone while they're still live. Yeah, yeah, supposed to stick them in the ground not hold them, I don't care. :-P

The people who lived across the street from me where I was growing up used to have Roman Candle fights. They'd square off in their driveway like they were cowboys at high noon, light 'em up and shoot 'em at each other.

They weren't none too bright ...

If you get enough sparklers bundled up together you can get a pretty nifty shower of sparks and a puddle of white-hot slag... Or a boom, if you wrap them tight enough. ^.^

LolaBonne here. Maybe I should get one of these journal thingies someday. Anyway, hi again. :)

I agree that the little ash-snakes sucked, but what I loved when I was younger were these things called 'Jumping Jacks'. They looked like firecrackers, but instead of exploding, they'd jump and bounce and spin around making this whizzing noise and spit sparks all over the place. Definitely a 'light and run' kind of incendiary device!

Happy 4th of July, Mocha. Enjoy the other definition of things blowing up for a change of pace. :D
